I’ll go first… mine was The List of Suspicious Things by Jennie Godfrey.
This was a spontaneous buy for me at Daunt Books in Marylebone about six weeks ago. I find that when I buy hardbacks they shoot to the top of my TBR pile because they are more expensive. I was drawn to this because I had seen it in a few bookshop window displays (marketing win), I like a northern setting and it sounded a bit like The Trouble With Goats And Sheep and the Flavia De Luce mysteries. I read it soon after buying and really enjoyed it, and it brought me out of a prolonged reading slump.
Just to be nosy, I’d love to know in the comments what the last HB (fiction or non-fiction) you bought was, whether or not you have read it and if it was a spontaneous or planned purchase.
Last HB for me was James by Percival Everett. My book club is reading it for September and the author did a Q&A and signing at a local movie theater, followed by the movie adapted from one of his earlier novels (the novel was Erasure, the movie was American Fiction.) The bookshop that sponsored the reading was in the film, as was a view of the movie theater! Can't wait to read this!
The last HB I bought was Blue Sisters by Coco Mellors. I haven't read it yet as I am finishing my current read. I bought it after seeing some reviews on it.
